Die Gründung des Klosters von Pessan muss wohl bereits im 8. Jahrhundert erfolgt sein. Auf dem Konzil von Aachen 817 wird es genannt. Über die frühen Bauten gibt es keine Erkenntnisse. Ein Neubau erfolgte im 11. Jahrhundert. Die Einwölbung des Querschiffs fand im 12. Jahrhundert statt. Nach einem Brand 1250 wurde die Kirche schnell wiederaufgebaut. Eine Weihe ist für 1252 erwähnt.
La fondation du monastère de Pessan doit remonter au 8e siècle. Il est mentionné au concile d'Aix-la-Chapelle en 817. On ne dispose d'aucune information sur les premières constructions. Une nouvelle construction a eu lieu au 11e siècle. La voûte du transept a eu lieu au 12e siècle. Après un incendie en 1250, l'église a été rapidement reconstruite. Une consécration est mentionnée pour 1252.
